Is it Intuition or Fear?

Updated: Sep 4, 2021

One of the most common hurdles when it comes to understanding your intuition is knowing whether it is actually your fears sending you the message instead of intuition. We are all intuitive, but when we ignore our intuition, usually fear steps in to takes its place. When this happens, it can be very difficult to determine what is fear and what is intuition. In fact, when left untamed, fear can become the loudest voice in your mind.

It is not a surprise that fear takes over, because we live in a society that is largely driven by fear. Fear of not being good enough, not being pretty enough, not having enough, and so on. There are so many fear-based messages out there that most of us carry around such fearful beliefs without even knowing it. When you become aware that you are operating on fearful thoughts, then you will be much more able to allow your intuitive voice to shine. If you have a strong feeling and you want to determine if it is indeed your intuition or just fear, here is how you can tell.

Intuition

*Feels like a strong sense of knowing and is not highly emotional.

*Is heard instantly and is not repetitive.

*Feels definitive, almost like there is no need to analyze or explain it.

*Feels loving and supportive.

*Is centered around the present moment.

Your fear

*Feels highly emotional and may even trigger feelings of anxiety or stress.

*Activates your "flight or fight" response and creates a strong impulse or desire to take radical action that is highly emotional.

*Is very repetitive and demanding and may require a lot more analysis.

*Seems to have more variables and can create confusion or mixed feeling.

*Feels very unsupportive or restrictive.

*Is centered around the future or examples from the past.

The most effective way to whether you are operating from your fear or your intuition is your emotional response. Your intuitive voice can also get lost in the thoughts of your mind, which makes its messages even harder to make sense of. Just keep trusting the process and give yourself more time before following through. The more you can trust your intuition and not judge it, the easier it will be to work with it.
